Intake Criteria and Admission Procedures

Clients admitted Willowglen Academy-IL have a developmental disability diagnosis and often mental illness diagnosis as well.

Typical diagnoses included:

  • Autism

  • Intellectual disability

  • Cerebral palsy

  • Psychosis

  • Affective disorders

  • Schizophrenic disorders

  • Personality disorders

  • Attention deficit disorders

  • Pervasive developmental disorders

  • Oppositional defiant disorders

  • Post traumatic stress disorders

We serve clients in the the following special educational areas: Emotionally Disturbed (ED), Learning Disabled (LD), Behavior Disorder (BD), or Cognitively Delayed (CD).

 

Referrals made to the Admissions Department should include the necessary historical and evaluative information, including but not limited to:

  • Social history

  • Psychological information

  • Psychiatric information

  • Medical history

  • Educational history

  • Other placements

Clients not generally accepted are those having a sole problem of profound mental retardation or are non-ambulatory, or pregnant at time of admission. Clients with severe character disorders, or clients regarding intensive sexual offender treatment would typically be considered inappropriate for admission
